NCSC and CFC Host Annual Willies Awards
During the week of August 8, editors from electric cooperative statewide associations gathered in Columbus, Ohio for the annual Willies Awards banquet. NCSC and CFC sponsored the event, where statewide publications were recognized for excellence in writing, photography and design.
"This is an incredibly talented group that does an amazing job in strengthening electric cooperatives' links to their members," said Rich Larochelle, CFC senior vice president, Corporate Relations. "As a whole, the statewide publications they are responsible for have a monthly circulation of 9 million--making them an invaluable tool for promoting electric cooperatives and the work they do for rural communities."
Entries for this year's "Willies," named for electric cooperative mascot Willie Wirehand, were judged by writing and editing professionals from Nebraska.
First-place awards were given in 11 categories: Best Magazine Design, Kentucky Living; Best Editorial, Carolina Country (N.C.); Best Technical Subject, South Carolina Living; Best Cooperative Principle, Ohio Country Living; Best Cover, Colorado Country Life; Best Photo, PENNLines (Penn.). Texas Co-op Power won top awards for Best Illustration, Best Website, Best News Feature, Best Entertaining Feature and Best Historical Feature.
NCSC and CFC Host Forum 2011
NCSC was a proud co-sponsor for CFC Forum 2011 on June 13-15 in San Francisco, Ca. Forum 2011 provided a timely exchange about the challenges and opportunities confronting the energy industry and electric cooperatives nationwide.

NCSC's 30th Annual Meeting
The NCSC 2011 Annual Meeting was held on Tuesday, March 8 at the Orlando Convention Center at 3 p.m. The meeting included addresses from NCSC President Fred Hubbard and NCSC CEO Sheldon C. Petersen.
